Weed and Feed Lawns

Welcome to my site – the perfect lawn – ahhh what a dream but is it achievable well the answer is almost certainly yes’ish. Well at the very least I hope that I can help you with hints and tips that I’ve picked up over the years, to either improve the appearance of or help you with lawn problems!   One of the major benefits of developing a stunning lawn is that you will without a doubt get fit doing it – especially at the beginning of this task. Once you have an established lawn and all the weeds, moss and bugs are under control you will have a good maintenance program introduced which will help not only your lawn but your waist line too.   In this site I am going to cover topics such as lawn treatments, lawn problems such as weeds, lawn pests and grass seeding. I will also try to address drought problems, lawn moss, and what to do when throughout the year with my lawn care calendar.   There is no doubt that there are very few shortcuts to a lush lawn, it will take time and effort to get it into shape, but once there with regular maintenance it can remain looking good all year round. It may seem initially a daunting task to undertake but it is one well worth doing.   If you think your lawn is really too far gone to be worth bothering with on top of all the hard work that will go into repairing it, you can go for a completely new lawn either one you seed yourself or turf.   To decide you can use the age old rule of thumb that if you can see more moss and weeds than lawn you might as well start again! I think the picture below is a classic example – I think the weeds and moss win hands down.

Weeds and Lawn Moss

You have two options:-       Turfing – This is best done in autumn but realistically can be done at any time of the year as long as preparation and aftercare are adhered to.   Seeding – This is best done early in spring after the frosts or preferably in autumn. Some will say it should only be done in the autumn but lets be honest do you really want to sit and look at the mess of a lawn for the whole of the summer. As long as it’s done properly and watered well it will be fine.   Article
